In memory of its generous founder, the foundation holds a commemoration lecture every third year. Professor Mirjam Christ-Crain: A Leading Figure in Neuroendocrinology
On May 22, 2025, the 19th lecture in memory of Hartman Müller was given by Prof. Dr. Mirjam Christ-Crain from the University of Basel.
Professor Christ-Crain is being honored for her groundbreaking research in neuroendocrinology. Her work focuses on the hormones of the posterior pituitary gland, specifically vasopressin and oxytocin. Vasopressin is known for its role in regulating the body's water balance, while oxytocin is widely recognized as the "cuddle hormone" due to its role in social bonding. Her contributions to the diagnosis and therapy of diseases related to these crucial hormones have significantly advanced our understanding of them and made a substantial impact on the field.
